Program Associate, Teaching, Learning, and Tech (TLT)

Primary Function: New America’s Education and Work Program seeks a dedicated, organized, and detail-oriented Program Associate to support our Teaching, Learning, and Tech (TLT) program.
The Teaching, Learning, and Tech (TLT) program is an initiative within New America's Education and Work issue area focused on advancing education as a public good, and how human-centered technology can, when appropriate, create more equitable learning environments across both formal and informal settings.
The Program Associate will provide research, administrative, operational, and programmatic support to senior staff. This role will be expected to play a strong role in managing an internship program, organizing the scheduling and logistics of roundtables, interviews, convenings of stakeholders, events and various meetings; taking detailed notes as needed, conducting supporting research related to TLT, assisting with posting in-shorts and briefs, and other tasks as assigned.
This position will report directly to the Director of the Teaching, Learning, and Tech program.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate internship program that matches and mentors post-secondary students interested in public interest technology with mission-driven host organizations.
- Analyze and synthesize research, and conduct interviews and roundtable forums with educators, practitioners, policymakers, designers, developers, researchers to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities.
- Develop policy recommendations for best practices and system change needed to better ensure all students have access to meaningful teaching and learning.
- Provide more tailored resources and support to educators and other professionals who work with students and families to help overcome the digital divide and promote digital literacy skills.
- Convene networks of stakeholders with diverse roles and across local, state, and national entities to identify the challenges and develop strategies for ensuring access to high-quality teaching and learning for all students.
- Identify and spotlight what works on the use of technology for young people in formal and informal settings.
Other duties:
- Assist with planning and coordinating roundtables, stakeholder convenings, interviews, and various meetings, and related activities.
- Support production of external events as needed.
- Conduct supporting research.
- Post in-shorts and briefs for the team as needed.
- Manage reimbursement process for stakeholder participants and senior staff as appropriate.
- The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and 1- 2 years of professional work experience required
- Experience working in education or related fields is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively—candidates should be self-motivated, but also enthusiastic team players open to feedback and collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience coordinating events in various formats (in-person, remote, and hybrid).
- Familiarity with tech platforms such as Airtable, Zoom, Google Docs and Google Sheets.
- Ability to proactively engage and support workplace dialogue around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Curiosity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for learning new skills, tools, and knowledge.
Compensation and Benefits: This position is a full-time role with benefits. The annual salary will be between $60,000 – 63,000, depending on experience and demonstrated competencies.
