New America’s International Security program seeks applicants who have professional level proficiency in Arabic, including writing and reading, to work on a research project on ISIS’ foreign fighters over the Summer of 2017.
The researcher will assist the team working on the project by conducting primary source research in Arabic and summarizing findings. The project will require the ability to quickly find, digest, summarize, and translate local Arabic-language news, web content, and government reports.
The ideal candidate would also have excellent writing and communications skills and experience or interest in issues involving counter-terrorism and governance in the Middle East and North Africa. Though the focus of the position will be to find and translate Arabic language materials, there may be opportunities to provide analysis for the project or related products on ISIS’ foreign fighters.
