To this end, New America produces lively, creative, and thoughtful events each year in DC, New York City, and a growing number of other hubs in our National Network. 

New America seeks an entrepreneurial, highly motivated, and experienced leader to join the team as Manager of Production. This person will amplify the New America brand and deepen its audience relationships by developing and coordinating industry leading webcast, podcasts, videos and more.
Working for the Managing Editor, and leading a team of two, the role will be chiefly responsible for overseeing New America's audio and video products, such as live video streams of DC-based events, post-event video clips, podcasts, short video profiles, and even, perhaps, a television show.

The ideal candidate is a strong manager, understands effective production workflows, is technologically adept, and has a passion for public policy and community engagement. Experience aligning live programming with strong journalistic ideals is preferred.  The manager will also play a role supporting the audio-visual needs of several larger annual conferences.


  • Lead a team of two production staff.
  • Oversee pre-production, production and post production processes for live-streamed events
  • Work closely with New America’s events, communications, editorial, and development teams to ensure alignment of goals and activities, including list maintenance and engagement communications.
  • Liaison with internal staff, external clients, press and other production crew
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment, software, and data  
  • Guiding production process of short videos
  • Support 3-4 program-sponsored events per week, including planning and execution of live video and audio support.


  • At least five years of production experience
  • Experienced leader capable of managing multiple projects at once
  • Ability to connect to radio stations via IP codec and television stations via LTN is a plus
  • Experience with non-linear editors
  • Ability to think quickly to solve problems during live shows and other live events.
  • Passion for public policy and a skilled storyteller
