Director - Technology and Systems Development

Reporting to the CFAO, the Director of Technology and Systems Development (“DTSD”) will be responsible for the oversight of all technology; work closely with leaders across the organization; provide technical guidance and expertise; and lead the Information Technology (IT) team. S/he will work to establish a forward-looking and dynamic IT organizational structure and next-generation of secure, cost-effective, and reliable infrastructure, systems, and services. The DTSD will provide the technical leadership and coordination of several critical org-wide projects, including the development and implementation of a full Enterprise Resource Planning system (“ERP”).


RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Organizational Interface

Analyzes complex business needs relevant to New America’s infrastructure and ancillary partners

-  Actively recommends technical solutions to present and potential liabilities

-  Ensures the consistency and sustainability of existing org processes by crafting, maintaining, and implementing standards/ procedures, as well as implementing technical solutions

-  Directs operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds org expectations

-  Maintains standardization with industry par by monitoring ongoing software updates, while forecasting and cost analyzing future updates dynamically

Asset Management

Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts

-  Purchases efficient and cost effective technological equipment and software

-  Controls budget and reports on appropriate capital asset expenditures

-  Leads the planning and management of the company's telephone system and handles company-wide upgrade efforts

-  Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.

ERP/Overall Systems Development

Responsible for developing strategic plans, in collaboration with the CFAO for all IT and Knowledge Management (KM) functions

-  Crafts and maintains a detailed chronology for the buildout of an org-wide ERP system, including finance modules, HRIS integration, metrics and evaluation interface and a robust KM System

-  Performs liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting

-  Identifies the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management

Server/Virtual Private Network (VPN)/Security Initiatives

Manages server systems to ensure 24/7/365 functionality

-  Implements virtualization to improve reliability of server system

-  Implements Whole-Disk Encryption on laptops organization wide

-  Oversees Core Enterprise Applications

-  Drives data analytics for M&A systems and other ancillary infrastructure

-  Guides network security, as primary driver for security policy and system adjustments

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

10+ years of experience within an IT environment

-  6+ years of managerial experience

-  Robust experience in systems development, cybersecurity, VLAN and KM systems

-  Proven acumen in successfully growing IT functions in previous roles

-  Good communication and customer service skills, and ability to exchange information with others clearly and concisely

-  Ability to work harmoniously and effectively as part of a work team, responding to frequent demands of multiple customers (internal and external)

-  Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently to meet multiple deadlines within regular cycles of activity
